Ok so what does “productive” mean to me? As stated in an earlier blog, to a lot of people would thing any activity not playing WOW is productive. HA! Well I need to be a little more specific then that. Now I realize as I delve into this not all will agree with me. But his is my blog so if you don’t like TOUGH CRAP!
To me, being productive is doing something that matters. At least to me. Something that has lasting value of some sort. Something that as i spend time on, I receive back from that time instead of just losing all the time I put in. Here are some examples of things I feel are productive:
-
Spending time with my wife
-
Spending time with my kids
-
Spending time with family (Mom, Dad, etc)
-
Making my surroundings cleaner / better
-
Reading
-
Studying
-
Practicing / Learning Music
-
Practicing / Learning Sports
-
Exercise
-
Helping others
-
Blogging (not to excess though, lol)
Now these are of course VERY general. For example studying can be studying scriptures, topics of interest, politics, school work, etc. Just really means trying to learn new things, expanding knowledge you already have, think deeper on things, etc. So take all these areas as general containers. The important thing is you are getting things back for time put in. Things like understanding, love, appreciation, strength, and better health just to name a few.
I am sure there are a lot more I could / should put in. These are just listed really to show an understanding of what I feel is productive. Feel free to comment for me to add something to the list. If I agree I will. Maybe this will help people fill the extra time they will have when they have walked away from WOW (or any other addiction).
